GYO Basketball Court Project

The GYO Board is pleased to announce our newest capital improvement to GYO Park: a new outdoor basketball court!

This project is a big one, and we are looking for help from our awesome community and local businesses to help make it into a reality.

Funding:
GYO's 2019 Golf Tournament and Car Show raised nearly $10,000, which is going to give us an awesome start to the site work and construction of the court. The GYO Board also applied for a grant from Greater Lakes Region Children's Auction at the end of 2019, and was awarded $5,000! All of us on the board want to thank the fine folks at the Greater Lakes Region Children's Auction for their hard work and dedication to helping all children of the Lakes Region, and for supporting GYO in its mission!

If you would like to contribute, please send checks to:

PHASE I: Site clearing, leveling, compacting, adding aggregate
Due to COVID-19, our site work was slightly delayed, but we are pleased to announce that in the fall of 2020, Michael Palladino from Clean Canopy Tree Care graciously donated all tree-clearing and chipping! Thank you, Michael! Then, it was a group effort in November to start pulling stumps and further clearing the lot. We would like to send our sincerest thanks to Bobcat of NH for providing two machines for the weekend, and Brett Donovan for transporting a third machine to and from GYO Park. Shane Bruneau, Troy Scott, and Jay Reed dedicated their entire weekend to try to get as much done as possible. Also a big thank you to Hammer Down Farm for swinging by and donating some machinery and time and helping us relocate all of the stumps that we pulled.

We got a ton done for very short money (just $125!) but there is still more site work to do before we can start building. If you would like to help with this part of the project, please contact
Julie Sforza-Smith.
